Sofia Varner

Sofia Varner is a mechanical engineer at NK Labs. She has experience with automotive design, robotic systems, and design for manufacturing.

Prior to working at NK Labs, Sofia worked at Instron where she was a part of the custom product design team. There, she designed and built frame attachments for customers’ unique testing requirements while under tight timelines. She also worked at a robotics startup where she designed and implemented a new drive system for an existing robot.

Sofia graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Design. In college, she participated heavily on the Formula SAE Electric team and served as Chief Mechanical Engineer for the club. She designed the transmission for the team’s second vehicle, machined accumulator segment walls, and welded sections of the chassis frame. In her free time, she enjoys going on walks and crocheting.
