Jonathon Kalow

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Jonathan Kalow is a senior mechanical engineer at NK Labs. His expertise in product development includes concepting, mechanical design, finite element analysis, prototyping, testing, and production manufacturing.

Jonathan spent seven years working on fastening tool development at Stanley Black & Decker, developing and delivering to market pneumatic nailers and staplers, as well as battery-powered cordless staplers. He has also worked on a wide range of innovation projects from rebar tying tools, powder-actuated tools, and high pressure “air-battery” technology. In addition to 3D and 2D CAD during the development process, Jonathan has experience performing static FEA, virtual drop testing, hands-on prototyping, custom engineering testing, and performing user field research. He has spent time in Taiwan coordinating engineering sample lot and product release, working with local manufacturing plants, test facilities, and part vendors.

In college, he spent most of his free time as a member of the FSAE team designing & building racecars for a student competition, eventually as the lead brakes & drivetrain engineer. Jonathan is an inventor on two issued U.S. patents. He received his Sc.B. in Mechanical Engineering from Brown University. He enjoys machining parts and building projects himself, and just generally getting things to work.
