We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer. The successful candidate will be creative, innovative, well-versed in 3D modeling, able to select appropriate materials and mechanical hardware, create mechanical drawings and mechanical control outlines, oversee fabrication of prototypes, and support bring-up and troubleshooting in the lab and in the field. This position involves creating concepts and inventing solutions for cutting-edge products that require integration of structural, electrical, thermal, and fluid designs into the overall system. The position also involves working with an internal interdisciplinary team and external customers to define, execute, and test the product. The candidate should have a solid theoretical understanding of the fundamental principles of mechanical engineering, experience designing and building prototypes, and a willingness to get their hands dirty in the lab to solve problems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with external customers to determine system requirements

  • System architecture; Design concept selection

  • Design mechanical systems and mechanisms

  • Select materials and fabrication processes

  • Create 3D models and 2D drawings in SolidWorks

  • Conduct and participate in design reviews

  • Use rapid prototyping machines to build concept prototypes

  • Coordinate with machine shop and/or factories to ensure parts are correctly made

  • Validate and troubleshoot prototypes
